In June I read 11 books and I liked all but 2 of them. I’ve had a run of good luck with nonfiction lately. Mindless eating: why we eat more than we think by Brian Wanskink and Survival of the Sickest by Sharon Moalem were really great. I definitely recommend those two if you enjoy [...]

Harlequin

I’m currently reading the newest Anita Blake Vampire Hunter book, The Harlequin by Laurell K Hamilton. I’m around page 60 and so far so good. It has only now gotten to the annoying ardeur and so far she she hasn’t had 30 page long crazy sex with 5 different people. I think there may [...]

I read 11 books in May, which is sad considering I was on vacation for 2 weeks. Good books include: Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews, All Together Dead by Charlaine Harris, Action Philosophers! by Fred Van Lente & Ryan Dunlavey. I would recommend Action Philosophers!
Action Philosophers! explains philosophy via graphic novel. It was awesome. [...]

Book Club

I went to my first book club meeting yesterday and really enjoyed. We read The Memory Keeper’s Daughter. It’s 1964 and a couple rushes to the hospital to deliver their first child. Baby number one is a perfect little boy; baby number two is a baby girl with Down Syndrome. The husband (happens to be [...]

Summer Goals

A friend and I have been making summer goals every summer since we were in middle school. Rarely do we actually accomplish the goals, but it is still fun to do. Half accomplishing something is better then not accomplishing anything. So here are my goals for summer 2007:
1. Get an A on my summer class-this [...]

Book clubs

I read a lot and tend to spend a lot of money on books. I check out books from the academic library I work at, the public library, and I’m in two book clubs. The most recent club is PaperBackBookSwap.com. The idea seemed cool, but I decided to quit it after a whole week. You [...]

I read 11 books in April, not a whole lot. I started quite a few books and didn’t finish them because they sucked! I’m having the worse luck finding books. Send me recommendations people! Maybe I need something new. Oh, send me titles of nonfiction books. The only nonfiction I read in April were about [...]

Happy camper

I realize that I have certain routines that I have to do every day to feel right. I have to floss my teeth and have two mugs of black tea every morning to be mentally prepared to go to work. I have to listen to NPR in my office, not in my car or at [...]

Scent of Shadows

I have a new author. Vicki Pettersson. I’m currently reading Scent of Shadows. It has all sorts of cool things-the supernatural, vampires, death. Last night I stayed up way past midnight. I just couldn’t find the right place to stop reading. I finally was so tired I had to put the book down. I was [...]

The Excellent 11

I’m reading The Excellent 11: Qualities Teachers and Parents Use to Motivate, Inspired, and Educate Children by Ron Clark. It’s good, but written for K-12 teachers. If you know of a college equivalent, let me know
